There are still a few Decent Fish around the Area. Pollack up to and over the 3lbs can be caught from Marks around Portlogan and Portpatrick also a few other species such as Whiting,Dabs etc from The Yellow Isle,Lairds Point and Cheese Rock. Portlogan Beach also worth a try for Flatfish,Coalfish etc. Lucky Dip ii , Charter Boat from Portpatrick ,skippered by Steve Stringer has been landing a few nice Common Skate as well as a few other Species when the weather has been kind enough to let him sail.Steve has a Facebook Page on which he post,s updates and Trip Availability.




The 25th of November was Lochryan Sea Angling Association,s last Roving Match of the Season. This was an Open Boundary Match ,but big tides and strong easterly wind was not going to make the Fishing Easy. However the Lads still managed to land a few different species ,Dogfish,Dab,Plaice,Pollack ,Wrasse,Codling and Whiting. Results were- 1st Eric Mc Lean 5lb 3oz 2nd David Goupillot 4lb 1/2oz and 3rd Colin Rothwell 3lb61/2oz and the Heaviest Fish went to David Goupillot with a Pollack 2lb13oz , 2nd Colin Rothwell pollack 2lb4oz and 3rd Eric McLean Pollack 2lb1oz. Lochryan,s last Match of the year was the Xmas Match ,held on Terrally Bay near Drummore on the 29th of December. It was fished on a dropping Tide from 6.30- 10.30pm ,and it was a nice Evening until the Rain moved in just after 8.00pm. There were quite a lot of different Species caught ,and as in Lochryan pegged matches only 3 of each species can count,the Anglers had to Battle through the whiting to get some other species on their cards. Species caught included Whiting,Dogfish,Dab,Plaice,Codling ,Coalfish and Rockling.All the junior Anglers caught and Thomas Copeland was the Victor with 111cm 2nd andrew McLean 83cm 3rd James Mc Intyre 31cm . Top Senior Rod was Alec Bell with 286cm 2nd Billy Russell 249cm and 3rd Bruce Mc Lean 219cm. Alec also had the Longest Fish with a 34cm Coalfish and 2nd equal was Mark Dewar,Gavin Mc Crae and Dean Drysdale ,also Dean was 3rd Top Lochryan Angler. Eric Mc lean and Gavin Mc Crae also battled it out 2nd year in a row for the Club Knock -out Trophy,this year it was Eric,s turn to win it,you never know if we both make it to the Final again next year ,we might have a decider. On the 16th of December The Sports shop,Winter League ,s first Match was held on Terrally ,the Match was meant to be on the Cree Estuary,but due to extra heavy Rainfall and strong winds it had to be changed.Fish were pretty scarce ,probably due to the adverse weather we had ,but still a few species were measured,Coalfish,Codling,and Rockling. Jim Keith was the Victor with a length of over 200cm which was all Coalfish. Paul Mc kie had the longest Fish with a 40cm coalfish. The Junior winner was Andrew Mc Lean and Runner-Up Bruce Copeland and credit to both young Lads for weighing in on a difficult night.Senior results-Zone A 1st Jim Keith 2nd Jamie Paton and 3rd eq Eric Mc lean and Paul Mc Kie Zone B 1st Gavin Mc Crae 2nd David Goupillot and 3rd Alec Bell
