Area Still fishing well for Tope and Species from Boat and Shore

The Area is still Fishing well from Boat and Shore for Tope,some over 50lbs been landed in the Boats and from rock Marks there have been Fish over the 40lbs caught. The weather has been a bit windy lately and the small Boats and sometimes even the Charter Boats have not been able to get out ,however when they can get to marks of their choice the Fishing has been really good,still Spurdogs,Tope ,Bullhuss and lots of other species as well as Common Skate being hooked. the Mull of Galloway Sea Angling Festival was held at the end of August ,the wind blew up on the Sunday but the Organisers extended the Saturdays Fishing time . Details of this Comp which was well attended and organised can be found on South West Scotland Sea Angling( Facebook ) or this is a write up in this months Boat Angler.  Lochryan Sea Angling Association held their 2Day Angling Festival on 1st and 2nd of Sept. Over 50 Senior Anglers attended the event as well as Junior Anglers.The Open Competition was ran on a measure and return basis and 3 hooks were permitted. Saturday,s Match was 3 Zones on Terrally Bay,Grennan,and Kilstay Bay. Kilstay was a new venue and a bit snaggy but still over 20 metres of Fish were measured and specie over all Zones included Smoothhound ,Gurnard,Dogfish,Mackerel,Pollack,Rockling,Conger and Bass.

E .Scotland) and Sir Bob Gasgoine ( N.E.England)   Zone C was also a new venue which was a bit snaggy  with a few Rig losses but still over 17 metres of fish were measured and the Longest Fish of the weekend came from here ,a Bullhuss of 82cm which won Gavin Mc Crae (L.S.A.A Stranraer) the Superpool of £ 250.00. There was also a new Pairs pool incorporated over the weekend which was won by Mike Kyle and Coco Mc Garva on 15pts.

The Overall Winner over the weekend on 3pts was Billy Buckley who also won the Stenaline Ferry ticket plus cash prize of £250.00 2nd Neil Cutler and 3rd Mike Kyle whom also won cash prizes

Thomas also won the Best Junior over the weekend winning an Alc-Mag20cs Reel and a Days free Boat Fishing on Steve Stringers Boat Lucky Dip11 Charters from Portpatrick. All other Juniors recieved Prizes ,so a big thankyou to all the companies that helped us with prizes, these included Daiwa,Pure Fishing Uk,Shimano,Dennets, CJT,Swift,Leeda,Snowbee,Svendsen Sport,Breakaway Tackle,Spring Water fishery.
