Still a few Whiting,Coalfish and Dogfish about

Terally Bay is still fishing quite well with a few Whiting,Dogfish and Coalfish being caught .Best time is to fish a rising tide into Darkness, best baits Lug,Sandeel ,Bluey and Frozen crab for the Coalfish.

Portpatrick Marks such as Yellow Isle, lairds Pt.,Killintringan Marks also worth wetting a line for Whiting,Dabs, pollack,Dogfish and the odd Codling up to about 3lbs.

The small Boats when able to get out have had some decent Whiting and Haddock as well as Dogfish and the odd Codling.

Had a trip to Costa Rica recently to try for Sailfish and Roosterfish, but this deemed to be a difficult task as the better Season for these species is from May until October, however we made the best of it ,we chucked Poppers until our arms nearly dropped off, trolled some live Baits ,and did a bit of Speed Jigging.Web also did a bit of Flyfishing from the Beach and the Rocks where we landed a few different species,I don,t know the British names for them as all the Costa Rican lads that were fishing handlines near us only spoke Spanish, the only Fish I knew the name of was some small Pufferfish which doubled in size before they were released. From the Boats we had a few Jack Crevalle,Needlefish,Dorado and Bonito and on my last Trip out I hooked a large Roosterfish which I Played for 20mins before it rubbed the leaderon some coral and escaped. From the Boats we saw large ammounts of Dolphins,Humpbacked Whales,Manta Rays,StingRays and Turtles and on land we travelled to Rainforests,Cloudforests,RiverRafted and travelled to Nicaragua for the day,on these trips we saw Sloths,Crocodiles,Racoons, different species of Monkey lots of Birds,Butterfliesetc, and we also went up a live Volcano where we could see the Lava gurgling  all in all a brilliant TripTight lines Eric

Portlogan and Portparick areas Fishing well just now.

Small private Boats and Charter Boats have had some brilliant Fishing lately when the relentless winds have subsided enough to let them get out. From Portpatrick and Portlogan  there have been some nice sized Spurdogs up to 20lbs,Tope to 60lbs and Bullhuss to 20lbs as well as the occasional Common Skate being landed up to 200lbs, there have also been a lot of other species around as well.LuceBay and Isle of Whithorn have also been Fishing well with good numbers of Tope,Huss and Smoothhounds being landed. I had a trip out with Campbell Hearton from The Isle of Whithorn on sun .14th Aug.After bagging a few Mackerel for Bait we headed offshore  a few miles to get the anchor down and target our species of the Day which was Tope and Bullhuss. Anchor deployed with a chumbag attached, it wasn,t that long before we had our first enquiry. The Fish seemed to come in bursts  but after about a 1 1/2hours it was quite fast and furious with  a few double hook-ups.Lots of Bullhuss into double figures and many Tope the biggest probably about the 30lbs,a lot of them were male fish and they certainly had a bit of attitude.2016-08-13 12.44.10 2016-08-13 11.47.56 2016-08-13 16.59.18    Lochryan Sea Angling Association held their species hunt on Sat 13th and Sun 14th August. Area Fishing really well at the moment

The Area is Fishing really well at the moment, lots of Tope around for the Boat Anglers as well as Spurdogs,Bullhuss,Smoothhounds and many other species. The Rock and shore marks have also been Fishing well with some nice Smoothhounds,Bullhuss,Bass, Pollack and many other species being landed.FB_IMG_1469008244355 John Mc Phee with his first Smoothhound. I had a trip out with Campbell Hearton on his Boat from The Isle of Whithorn on Tues 19th July . My Rods kitted up with my Shimano Reels filled with 50lb Ultima PowerBraid and Tackle Box on Board ,off we headed just round corner from Harbour to try and catch a few Mackerel for Bait. A few blank Drifts and then we were on them ,putting enough into the Bait Box for a few hours to try for a Tope. Bait Box armed with a few Mackerel and off we sped, allthough maybe not as fast as we would have liked as it was a bit lumpy to grounds further offshore.Destination reached, anchor deployed and it was time to drop a bait down. It wouldn,t have been more than 20mins and I had my first enquiry, Fish hooked and brought up to side of Boat, a nice Male Fish of about 25lbs, which was quickly released by Campbell ,off my de-barbed Sakuma 8/0 Hook. Next Fish came to Campbells Rod ,which I un-hooked for him after he battled it up to side of Boat. The Sport continued with Tope up to about 30lbs and a small Bullhuss until our anchor tripped with the Tide increasing in strength. We gathered up the Anchor and decided to head for a Wreck to try for some Pollack ,where we suceeded with Fish to about 7lbs in size, then it was time to head back in  to catch the Tide before it was too far out to get the Boat back onto the Trailer. Another good day afloat with good company.2016-07-18 14.22.03 2016-07-18 14.03.372016-07-18 10.08.13   Places to try from the Rocks would be Killintrigan,North of Portpatrick.Mull of Galloway Rock Marks,Mullhill at Portlogan,Tandoo Pt.South of Portpatrick.
